A ductless mini-split, also known as a mini-split air conditioner, works by using two main components: an outdoor unit and one or more indoor units.

The outdoor unit contains a compressor, which compresses refrigerant and sends it through a conduit to the indoor unit. The indoor unit, typically mounted on the wall or ceiling, contains an evaporator coil and a fan. The refrigerant flows through the evaporator coil, absorbing heat from the indoor air and cooling it. The fan then circulates the cooled air back into the room.

One of the advantages of a ductless mini-split system is that it does not require ductwork, which can be expensive to install and can leak air, reducing energy efficiency. Instead, the refrigerant is carried through a small, insulated conduit that connects the outdoor unit to the indoor unit.

Another advantage of a ductless mini split is that it allows for zoned heating and cooling. Each indoor unit can be controlled independently so that you can set different temperatures in different rooms or zones.

Ductless mini splits are energy-efficient, quiet, and versatile heating and cooling systems that can be an excellent option for many homes and businesses.
