Frequently Asked Questions

Fujitsu has developed the Mini-Split Heat Pump System to eliminate the need for a basement or attic-located evaporator air handler.

As you know, the traditional ducted air handler unit is bulky and has ductwork associated with it to deliver conditioned air to rooms. Rather than using space-robbing ductwork, the Fujitsu Ductless Mini-Split System uses thin copper tubing line-sets to pump refrigerant between the outdoor and indoor units.

Fujitsu offers a variety of indoor unit options that you can choose to meet the decor of your home. Fujitsu offers wall, floor, ceiling, and concealed slim duct units that can be combined together for a complete operating heating and cooling system.

For a clean appearance, you can use Fujitsu’s ceiling cassettes and slim duct air handler units, which get installed within a structure, so they’re concealed from view.

Even more remarkable, the Fujistu Mini-Split Heat Pump System reverses operation depending on the season. This system provides heating and air conditioning by using one kind of technology. There is no need for oil, propane, natural gas, or electric heating.

The Fujitsu Mini-Split Heat Pump uses electricity to run a high-efficiency refrigerant pump and its electrical controls. The result is exceptionally high-efficient heating and air conditioning year-round for your home comfort.

Heat pumps operate like your refrigerator and window air conditioning unit; heat pumps use electricity to run a compressor that pumps refrigerant. The refrigerant changes its state by increasing in temperature under pressure and lowering its temperate when the pressure is released.

The basic principle of the heat pump is it transfers heat from one space to another and can reverse the operation depending on the season.

When the heat pump transfers heat from the inside of your home to the outside, we call it “air conditioning.” And when the heat pump transfers heat from the outside of your home to the inside, it’s heating.”

Heat pump systems are more efficient than other forms of heating because heat pumps do not create heat-they move it from one place to another. As an example, the output of an efficient SEER heat pump is about three times that of electric heat.

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) = Rated BTU capacity divided by total KW input.

Did you know that the refrigerant we use in a heat pump system is much colder than the outdoor temperatures, even on the coldest winter day?

And, because heat is attracted to cold, the heat pump absorbs heat from the outdoors and transfers the heat absorbed to inside your home. Crazy right?

The refrigerant’s physical properties do this naturally. The heat pump uses efficient compressors to pump refrigerant via small copper tubing called (line-sets) between the outdoor unit and indoor unit/s.

Because the heat pump moves the heat rather than creating it, it delivers up to four times the heat compared to an electric baseboard unit.

After you survive winter and spring turns into summer, the heat pump system automatically reverses its operation to “cooling mode.” When the heat pump is in “cooling mode,” it transfers heat from inside your home to the outside.

The advanced Fujitsu mini-split heat pump technology makes these mini-split heat pump systems far more cost-effective and energy-efficient than conventional central air conditioning systems.

Most central air conditioning systems are between 13-18 SEER; however, a Fujitsu Mini-Split has a better than 20 SEER “Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio.”

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER)

What Does It mean

The efficiency of air conditioners is rated by the seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER), which the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute define.

SEER stands for “Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio.” A SEER rating is the ratio of the cooling output of an air conditioner over a typical cooling season, divided by the energy it consumed in Watt-Hours.

The higher the SEER, the more energy-efficient the air conditioning system. And, the higher the SEER, the less money it costs to operate, saving you energy costs.

A higher SEER air conditioning system means you will save more cash than a conventional one.

According to the Kobie SEER Energy Savings Calculator, the 16 SEER air conditioning system uses about 13% less energy to produce than a 14 SEER air conditioning system. That translates to every $100 spent to run the 14 SEER unit; you could save about $15 by upgrading to a 16 SEER air conditioning unit.

Now imagine if you had a Fujitsu Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump System installed in your home or business. Fujitsu Mini-Split Systems have SEER ratings of 20 or more, making them at least 25% more energy efficient than a standard central air conditioning system.

And the critical factor you should consider is that the mini-split heat pump system provides heating and air conditioning so that you can have one system that does it all.
