Challenge:
The homeowner wanted reliable year-round heating and cooling for two very different spaces: a second-floor family room and a first-floor garage gym. Both areas required independent temperature control, low noise for daily use, and high efficiency to manage energy costs in New England’s cold winters.
Solution:
We designed a two-zone high-efficiency Fujitsu heat pump system based on Manual-J load calculations to ensure optimal performance for each space.
Scope of Work:
- Supply and install a Fujitsu multi-zone outdoor unit
- Install an 18,000 BTU wall-mounted indoor unit in the family room.
- Install a 12,000 BTU wall-mounted indoor unit in the garage gym.
- Run insulated refrigerant lines with UV-rated, paintable line-hide covers for a clean exterior look.
- Mount the outdoor unit on the garage wall bracket.
- Provide dedicated electrical disconnect, interconnect wiring, and optional Wi-Fi controls.
- Perform evacuation, pressure testing, startup, and operational verification in both heating and cooling modes.
- Homeowner orientation and system training
Equipment Used:
- Fujitsu AOUH24KWAH3 – multi-zone outdoor condenser
- Fujitsu ASUH18KPAS – 18,000 BTU indoor unit for family room
- Fujitsu ASUH12KPAS – 12,000 BTU indoor unit for garage gym
Results & Benefits:
- Zoned Comfort: Independent control for each room
- Energy Efficiency: Variable-speed inverter technology reduces energy costs
- Quiet Operation: Ideal for family and workout spaces
- Year-Round Reliability: Keeps spaces warm in subzero temperatures
- Peace of Mind: Backed by a 12-year Fujitsu warranty
Conclusion:
This installation demonstrates how a custom two-zone heat pump system can transform home comfort, providing efficient, quiet, year-round climate control even in the coldest Maine winters.
